What Is a TxID (Transaction Hash)?

A TxID, also called a transaction hash, is a unique code that identifies a specific cryptocurrency transaction on the blockchain. Every time you send or receive crypto, the network generates a TxID for that transaction.

Here’s what it means and why it matters:

  • It’s a unique fingerprint - no two transactions share the same TxID.
  • It lets you track payments - you can enter the TxID into a blockchain explorer to see when the transaction was sent, confirmed, and completed.
  • It’s created automatically - the blockchain generates it by hashing the transaction details into a long string of letters and numbers.
  • It serves as proof - if you ever need to confirm a payment, the TxID is the evidence you provide.

In simple terms, the TxID works like a tracking number for your crypto transfer, so anyone can verify that the transaction is real and traceable on the blockchain.
